Why go chemical-free?

Let’s Get Educated

why chemical-free is the better choice

Healthier for you.

The chemicals used to kill weeds and bugs are not good for your health.  Of 30 commonly used lawn pesticides, 13 are probable carcinogens, 13 are linked with birth defects, 21 with reproductive effects, 15 with neurotoxicity, 26 with liver or kidney damage, 27 are sensitizers and/or irritants, and 11 have the potential to disrupt the endocrine (hormonal) system.

Harmful lawn chemicals also drift into your home where they contaminate the indoor air and surfaces.  Even though the chemicals are applied outside, they reach into your home, as well.

Safer for kids and pets.

If all the toxins and chemicals in traditional lawn care products don’t scare you, maybe thinking about how they impact your kids, grandkids, and pets will convince you to go chemical-free.

Think about it… who is most likely to be down in the grass, rolling around and playing?   Kids and pets!  The products applied to your lawn, trees, and shrubs don’t dissipate and go away; they linger long after the nasty, strong smell is gone.  So as your kids and pets are playing outside they are exposed to chemicals, some of which have been proven to be serious health hazards.

Better for the environment.

It’s estimated that 50,000 tons of lawn products are used each year.  Those products are carried through the water system into our lakes and rivers, the same lakes and rivers we recreate on and in – and the same water we drink.

Your lawn may be one small piece of the puzzle but the cumulative impact across the world is huge.

You don’t have to be a “Tree Hugger”, but you can be a good steward of the land and care for it the best you can!

Your lawn will be healthier.

Many lawns are “addicted” to massive infusions of fertilizers and to frequent watering. These common practices lead to lawns that are not able to defend themselves against pests, plus they lead to lawns with shallow roots that are vulnerable to drought.

A lawn treated with chemical-free or organic products has healthy soil and deep-rooted healthy grass that is able to withstand most local conditions and robust enough to crowd out weeds and shrug off the occasional pest.

Cost comparable.

You’re probably thinking that chemical-free or organic products are more expensive than toxin-loaded herbacides and pestacides.  Not true!  And if the price is the same and the outcome is better, why use products that are harmful to you, your family, pets, and the environment?

Our chemical-free products do not cost more than traditional products.  But you probably want some hard figures to prove that point, so give us a call at 605-260-0784 and we’ll give you a free estimate.
